Studying Abroad in Italy…?

Hi,

I will be a college sophomore thinking about studying abroad in Italy next spring. I have three choices which are affiliated programs with my school,
1) Milan
2) Rome
3) Siena

which do you think would be the best for a college student? I don’t know any Italian, but am planning on taking a semester’s worth before to learn the basics. I want to be able to experience the Italian culture, go out and have fun and meet alot of other International/Italian students. which do you recommend? Also, which is the most expensive, or are they all pretty much the same?

Thanks!

hi Chelsea

well…
Siena is a little nice town, with many foreign students (a lot of them are american or british).
Rome and Milan are the biggest Italian cities… life is more expensive than Siena, they have many international students but proportionally with the total number of students (international + locals) they have less International students than Siena.
their nightlife is uncomparable with Siena’s, Rome and Milan are 2 of the world capitals of entertainment, while Siena is just a 60.000 inhabitants town…

but I guess that in Siena, you’ ll make new friends easier… because you ll stay in touch with a limited range of people… and siena is not that bad, there are some nice locals and discos to go to.
Rome and milan are really dispersive, it’s easy to have fun, but hard to make new friends, because everyday you’ ll meet people that probably you won’t meet the day after again…

then..
-if you are going to Italy alone, I recommend you Siena
-if you are going to Italy with 1 or 2 friends at least… i recommend you Milan or Rome (they are pretty much the same… even if Rome is more beautiful and artistic, and it’ s less expensive than Milan)
