What is the best way to learn spanish.?
I am a native english teacher and I have a knack for spanish. I did really well in spanish II last semester but I don’t think that class really helped me learn how to speak it (just lot of grammar and useless vocabulary). I was looking into buying Rosetta Stone Latin America but it is REALLY expensive on a baby-sitter’s salary lol. Is that really the best way to learn a language. By the way, I am not a complete beginner, so should i still buy level 1? Are there any better and cheaper ways to learn spanish (maybe even free). Thanks a lot in advance.
I’m in Spanish 3/4 Honors/AP at my high school and I skipped Spanish 1&2 and just merely took the exams to gain credit for the class to put on my transcript.
I did not buy RosettaStone because it truly is expensive. I went back to basics, good old books. I started out with books that taught Spanish to elementary school students. Using that I was taught grammar and some vocabulary. Once I went through those I started reading simple books like fairytales for little kids written in Spanish. They were just books to practice reading because they were simple sentences. Then I moved on to chapter books with more difficult sentences.
I also watched Spanish soap operas on tv. I listen to Reggaeton (Spanish music basically) and I speak with the Latino/as at my school. They teach my slang though and informal way of saying things but thats more expected in an actual conversation with someone my age.
Trust me, this is a very affective way to learn Spanish.
